How To Market Yourself with an Online School Degree
|
As the desire for distance education has been increasing, there are a larger number of new online schools throughout the internet. Some schools have the accreditation process and are thereby legitimate. Others, however, are diploma mills fronts and lackluster education.
Other schools and employers think of online only schools different to online classes that are done at reputable universities. So how will you know which school to choose? The following may help you market your degree and yourself to academic institutions and future employers.

Online only schools have no brick and mortar school for operation. They may have a little office in a business center or strip mall. They might offer a large number of degrees and courses but their staff may be small. However, not because there is no large building will not mean that you can't obtain a sound education. When you do research on these online schools, ensure that a regional accreditation agency has accredited them. Also try to find out if they have obtained any rewards that are recognizable.
Click the Contact us button on the site and look for a business address, phone number or e-mail address. Bypass schools with only an email and a 1-800 number. When research is completed, you can enroll. Some online only schools have degrees in liberal arts, psychology and business.
So why do employers think that regular schools are different to online schools? The academic world is embracing distance education heavily. The people, who have stopped furthering their education, may think that distance education seems very simple and to easy to do unlike the real colleges that others have went to. Big changes require some time to be adjusted for acceptance. So when the employer see your resume filled with only online schools, they may not be certain about the quality of education that you obtained. This will also prove true for academic institutions that may think online education is not up to par with classroom education.
When you are on an interview, be sure to say if the degree does not have life experience credits. These credits are not as valued by schools and employers because it is difficult to be validated. If the degree has no life experience credits, let them know why the institution felt that life experience could be given college credits. Tell them about projects that are relevant that you did, clubs or associations that you were in or started, and anything that could show strength or value to be added to the company.
You must be able to market yourself to a prospective employer or school with confidence and enthusiasm. Nobody should make you believe than a traditional degree is superior to an online degree. If you come across some people who may not know about online education, you can let them see how well the degrees prepare students for the advancing future. You have to be seen as a competent person and you are totally prepared to take on the world and the degree helped you in becoming this person.
Online Distance Learning Course Tip #1
Be careful of schools that claim they are international. A lot of times the schools have no permanent phone number or address and you can’t contact them if there are problems. They have no degrees that have value in the workplace. It is always a good idea to find a school located in the country you live in. There are many online distance learning schools that are legitimate but you have to do careful research before deciding to go with one of them.

Online Distance Learning Course Tip #3
If you sit in a classroom it can be tedious, but some people prefer the classroom environment. If you never did learning online you may miss the environment of the classroom and surrounded by your peers. You have to know if you really like discussing things with teachers and interacting with fellow students. If you are a sociable person then working at home may feel very isolated. You can mix it up by doing a class or two online and doing the rest of classes at school.
